Care For A Picnic?

I'm not even sure where to start with this piece, it really forced alot of emotions I never even knew I had whilst working on it. So much experimentation went into it, and a lot was learned.

Part of me was thinking of not posting it, but that doesn't seem fair. As the intentions for this picture were not to be just another gallery filler. Although to me, I felt like so much more could have been done. Regardless of my personal feelings about how it turned out this shouldn't stop me from sharing things I do with all of you. I'd rather not make a habit of doing that, as so many other works in progress were ceased for that reason alone.



So this is actually a gift for and her recent Tumblr Blog "Rarijack Daily". It's been a charming blog in which she almost always has a new, colorful piece posted each day. (hence the Daily part) 

At first glance it may seem like some silly pony Tumblr that's just there like the rest; but something about how she does each one gives it vibrancy. Each has a mood expressed through varying color, something that alot of artists never seem to take advantage of. Thinking back now though, that is something that has always been so attractive about her style even before her daily Tumblr blog.

I guess I wanted to do something similar, although in the end it became a piece based around light more than anything... as its original colors took to much focus away from Applejack and Rarity. Seeing the type of contrast it has now this is something I would consider a failure, but then again that's just common in art. The best thing to do now is to learn, and work more at it.

Also If you're reading this :iconwhitedamondsltd: I really do appreciate the daily art you've made for everyone. I know I can only speak for myself, but i'm sure many people deal with a hectic life, and difficult situations everyday. However once they see those posts it helps alleviate that, and they can feel happy from what you do (even if it may seem small). I know from the workload you have too, it's alot to sacrifice time you could spend on yourself for other people. Making artwork for them when your body would rather have some well needed rest is alot to ask for. ^^

I'd say I felt that on this picture here, I think my average sleep schedule has only been a few hours as of late; but sacrificing some of that each night to wrench this out just felt right. I hope you at least find some enjoyment in this piece. Think of it as a small token of thanks for all you've done.
